What is MNS Exam?

The MNS Exam (now officially the NEET + Military Nursing Screening Process) is an entrance examination conducted by the Indian Armed Forces to select young womenwho dream of serving the nation as professional military nurses. If you clear this exam, you get a golden chance to:

  • Study B.Sc. Nursing at prestigious Armed Forces Medical College colleges (AFMS Institutions) free of cost
  • Become a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Military Nursing Service
  • Serve the nation with pride, discipline, and dedication It’s not just a career—it’s a uniformed service full of respect, stability, and purpose.

Eligibility Conditions

  • Female candidates who are unmarried/divorced/legally separated/ widow with out encumbrances.
  • Nationality : Citizen of India
  • Age : Must be between 17 – 25 years
  • Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed in FIRST ATTEMPT,Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent (12 Years schooling), withPhysics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English with not less than50% aggregate marks as a regular student from a Statutory/ RecognizedBoard/University/Examining Body. 
  • Physical Standards : The minimum height required for entry into Armed Forces for female candidates is 152 cm.

**Candidates from Hill and North Eastern States will be acceptedwith a minimum height of 147cm.** An allowance for growth of 02 cm will be made forcandidates below 18 yrs at the time of examination.**

Candidate seeking admission for BSc Nursing course at AFMS institutions will have to mandatorily qualify the NEET (UG) 2024 examination conducted by National TestingAgency (NTA).

Psychological Assessment Test (PAT)

As part of the Military Nursing Service (MNS) selection process, candidates will undergo a stage called the Psychological Assessment Test (PAT). This occurs beforeyour panel interview and acts as an important filtering step in the selection process.

  • Duration of Test : 30 minutes
  • No. of Questions : 40
  • Purpose of Test : To assess your psychological traits and generate a detailed evaluation report

Panel Interview

After successfully clearing the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and the PsychologicalAssessment Test (PAT), the next crucial stage in the MNS selection process is the PanelInterview. This phase plays a key role in evaluating a candidate’s overall proficiency,personality, and suitability for the Military Nursing Services.

To perform well, it’s important for candidates to be familiar with the types of questions typically asked.

The MNS Panel Interview usually covers:

  • Personal and Family Background : Understanding your upbringing, values, and support system.
  • Academic Experience : Exploring your education and how it has prepared you for a career in military nursing.
  • Military Nursing Context : Assessing your knowledge of and attitude toward theMNS.
  • Indian Armed Forces : Basic awareness about the structure, values, and functioning of the Indian Armed Forces.

Medical Examination

After the interview, the recommended candidates will appear for medical examinationbefore a Special Medical Board (SMB). Candidates declared FIT/UNFIT will beinformed by the President of the Medical board including the procedure of requesting forAPPEAL/REVIEW MEDICAL BOARD.

Final Merit List

Once the all candidates are done with all tests & medical review , a final merit list isdeclared for 220 Candidates , who will be intimated via e-mail & message to join theirselected college with all joining instructions
