About RIMC Entrance Exam
Around 25 cadets are enrolled every six months. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 11 years old and not older than 13years as of the 1st of January or 1st of July of the term they seek admission to.
Entry is offered exclusively into Class VIII, and candidates should either bestudying in Class VII or must have already completed it at a recognised school at thetime of joining.
Application forms are required to be submitted through the respective StateGovernments.
Selection is based on performance in the All India Entrance Examination, conductedtwice annually.
The written test consists of three papers—
English (125 marks), Mathematics(200marks), and General Knowledge (75 marks).
Candidates who clear the written examination are invited to appear for a Viva-Vocecarrying 50 marks.
Age Criteria
The Admission to the College is bi-annual i.e., in January and July each year.
Candidates should not be less than 11 years of age but must not have attained the age of 13 on 01 January or 01 July of the Term they join in.
That said, the College encourages applications only from students who feel a genuinecalling—those ready to embrace the discipline, challenge, and honour that come with alife dedicated to the service of India.
Educational Qualifications
Admissions are offered exclusively to Class I (equivalent to Class VIII)—the gatewayinto life at the RIMC. Applicants must already be enrolled in Class VII at a recognizedschool, ensuring they are academically ready for the challenge ahead.

Each candidate must secure a minimum of 50% in every subject—a benchmark thatreflects both competence and consistency.
Viva Voce
Next comes the Viva Voce, an oral assessment carrying 50 marks. More than a simple interview, it is awindow into the candidate’s intelligence, personality, clarity of thought, and confidence. Here too, thebar is clear: candidates must score at least 50% to move forward.
Medical Examination
Those who clear the interview are then entrusted to selected Military Hospitals for a thorough MedicalExamination. This step ensures that every potential cadet meets the physical standards essential for lifeat RIMC.
